Position Summary:
We are currently seeking a full-time, hands-on System Engineer to become an integral part of our dynamic team. Reporting to the Director of Patterned Flow Cell Research and Development, the System Engineer will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including mechanical, optics, and software engineers, as well as scientists, to tackle technical challenges and enhance system efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform in-depth analysis and troubleshooting of intricate systems and equipment to determine root causes of issues and implement effective solutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve technical challenges and optimize system performance.
- Conduct testing procedures to validate instrument functionality, diagnose failures, and propose enhancements.
- Ensure proper integration of core modules, including optics, motion controls, and fluidics.
- Maintain instrument functionality and oversee sequencing operations.
- Work alongside engineers to develop new process parameters and manufacturing techniques.
- Support flow cell development and scale-up manufacturing processes, including inspections and assembly.
- Collect and analyze data to support process characterization and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Prepare and execute standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and experimental test plans.
- Perform additional work-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Biochemical, Materials, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field with a minimum of 4 years of industry experience.
- Experience with biotechnology instrumentation and fluidic hardware (pumps, tubing, valves, etc.).
- Detail-oriented and self-motivated, capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
- Quick learner, proficient in using computers and new software.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative team player.
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- High attention to detail and skilled in precise, delicate hands-on work.
- Able to manage multiple tasks and adapt to rapidly changing requirements and priorities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Fluency in Mandarin Chinese.
- Experience with verification and validation (V&V), design of experiments (DOE), and root cause analysis (RCA).
- Familiarity with programming principles (Matlab, Python, Java, etc.).
- Strong foundation in mathematics and sciences, including mechanics, electronics, and basic biology.
- Experience in semiconductor manufacturing or microfabrication is advantageous.
- Hands-on experience in wet processing, visual inspections, and assembly for chip fabrication is a plus.
