Principal Scientist in Next-Generation Sequencing

Position Overview:
The Sequencing Workflows and Applications team at Tailored Management is on the lookout for a skilled Senior Scientist to enhance our research and early development initiatives in the realm of Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS). The successful candidate will possess a robust background in optimizing NGS workflows, alongside practical experience in nucleic acid extraction, library preparation, target enrichment, sequencing, and data interpretation. This pivotal role will contribute significantly to the advancement of novel reagents, workflows, and assay solutions in the fast-paced domain of NGS.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, refine, and validate NGS-centric workflows, playing a crucial role in pioneering research within molecular biology and human health.
- Thoroughly document experimental methodologies, materials, and outcomes in electronic laboratory notebooks. Analyze data, assess results, and determine subsequent experimental steps.
- Leverage extensive molecular biology expertise to troubleshoot assays, address technical challenges, and interpret experimental data.
- Communicate scientific insights and project progress during internal and cross-functional team meetings. Foster and maintain productive relationships with Development teams, and provide training to new R&D personnel as necessary.
- Draft and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) to guarantee consistency and precision in experimental methodologies.
Minimum Qualifications:
Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Biological/Life Sciences, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related discipline.
Experience:
- Bachelor's degree with 6+ years or Master's degree with 3+ years of pertinent industry experience.
- Solid foundation in molecular biology, particularly in NGS methodologies.
- Demonstrated experience in assay design, optimization, validation, experimental planning, data analysis, and presentation.
- Practical experience with NGS techniques, including exome sequencing, whole genome sequencing, and RNA sequencing.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with Illumina platforms (NovaSeq, HiSeq, NextSeq, MiSeq).
- Prior experience in the analysis and interpretation of NGS data.
- Knowledge of various genomics analysis technologies such as microarrays, real-time PCR, and quality control validation tools.
- Understanding of oncology biology is advantageous.
