Position Overview:
The Payroll Specialist is tasked with overseeing and executing the payroll functions of the organization with accuracy and efficiency. This position guarantees that all personnel receive their compensation correctly and punctually, adhering to federal, state, and local laws. The Payroll Specialist is also integral in maintaining payroll documentation, addressing payroll concerns, and supporting audit processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Gather, confirm, and input employee information (e.g., hours worked, leave, deductions) into the payroll system.
  • Administer bi-weekly/weekly/monthly payroll cycles, ensuring precision and promptness.
  • Compute wages, benefits, bonuses, and deductions for employees.
  • Ensure adherence to relevant laws and organizational policies.
  • Maintain precise payroll records and employee data within the payroll system.
  • Update payroll system with new hires, terminations, and modifications to pay rates.
  • Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate confirmed reports.
  • Prepare and submit payroll tax reports (e.g., quarterly and annual filings).
  • Stay informed on changes in payroll legislation and regulations to ensure compliance.
  • Assist with internal and external audits related to payroll.
  • Address employee inquiries regarding payroll, deductions, benefits, and leave balances.
  • Provide payroll information to employees as requested.
  • Collaborate with HR and Finance to resolve any payroll discrepancies.
  • Identify opportunities for process enhancements and efficiencies within payroll operations.
  • Participate in payroll system upgrades and testing.
  • Train and support staff on payroll-related matters as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in payroll processing or a related role.
  • Experience with payroll software.
  • Multistate and union payroll experience.
  • Knowledge of payroll tax laws and regulations.
