Vaco is in search of insightful professionals who are deeply engaged with internet technologies, particularly at the crossroads of crisis management, geopolitical dynamics, and user safety concerns. In this role, you will delve into rapidly evolving challenges such as tracking the dissemination of online content trends, investigating hazardous organizations and movements, and assessing geopolitical matters.

This position is a vendor role with Vaco for a client's team, a prominent Fortune 100 company. The role requires on-site presence.

Expect a dynamic and fast-paced work environment where you will collaborate with a team dedicated to conducting impactful investigations into significant cultural trends. Successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to synthesize information from diverse sources through keen analysis, effective writing, and technical research, ensuring that our client's global team remains informed about the latest developments. Exceptional writing and communication skills are crucial for this position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough investigations, analyses, and reporting on identified trends and incidents on a weekly basis.
  • Clearly and concisely synthesize multidimensional information and data for various audiences, including executive leadership.
  • Assess and conceptualize strategic risks and threats to trust in the client and its user base.
  • Examine geopolitical developments, social issues, and other online-related events to identify emerging trends and predict new forms of abuse.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and report on anticipated trends, ideally incorporating quantitative analysis.
  • Articulate how global developments may adversely affect the client's users.
  • Produce ad hoc research outputs on a variety of topics with relevance to online or client-related matters.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Law, Political Science, International Relations, Data Science, Journalism, Anthropology, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience in intelligence, security analysis, threat or risk management, strategic or geopolitical forecasting, or a related area (as an academic scholar, researcher, NGO member, or experience with security/intelligence teams).
  • In-depth knowledge of global violent extremist groups and dangerous organizations, including their messaging methods and tactics to evade detection.
  • Outstanding writing and drafting capabilities in English.
  • Strong grasp of international and geopolitical events and their implications for global businesses, or relevant experience in a research-focused role.
  • Ability to identify and resolve complex issues independently, often under challenging conditions.
  • Proficiency in using Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or Google Workspace.
  • Composure under pressure, with the capacity to perform well in urgent, evolving situations.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • High level of initiative and productivity driven by deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • The ideal candidate will possess a degree in political science, data science, international relations, journalism, digital media, or a related field, or hold a technical or advanced degree such as a PhD.
  • Capability to predict how current events will manifest online and evolve over time, with experience in developing strategic or geopolitical forecasts being advantageous.
  • Understanding of how international and geopolitical events may impact a global corporation.
  • Proven track record of an investigative, data-driven approach to resolving complex inquiries.
  • Strong interest in online content, news media, and current affairs.
  • Familiarity with internet technologies and associated policy and regulatory frameworks is a plus.

Schedule Requirements:

Monday to Friday, 9 am - 5 pm with a 30-minute lunch break (flexible schedule within business hours).
