Position Overview

The Facilities Maintenance Technician is tasked with ensuring the facility remains in optimal operational and physical condition. This role involves responding to both routine and urgent service requests, diagnosing issues, and executing repairs. As needed, the technician will conduct or supervise preventive maintenance activities. The Facilities Maintenance Technician will engage in a variety of repair, maintenance, and support tasks.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular cleaning of GMP areas.
  • Manage inventory of essential supplies (e.g., HVAC filters, cleaning materials).
  • Perform basic maintenance and repairs throughout the facility, including cosmetic damage restoration.
  • Oversee the upkeep of building utility systems to maintain expected operational conditions, including HVAC, electrical, water systems, and controlled temperature storage.
  • Identify and rectify potential safety risks to prevent accidents.
  • Assist building personnel by ensuring the availability of utilities and addressing furniture and office relocation requests.
  • Carry out minor painting and caulking as needed.
  • Support general cleaning and housekeeping initiatives as required.
  • Coordinate with janitorial services for non-laboratory cleaning tasks.
  • Provide support for processing and manufacturing equipment, ensuring proper documentation is maintained.
  • Conduct routine inspections of systems as necessary.
  • Verify that process gases are maintained at service pressure daily.
  • Assist in relocating laboratory equipment as directed.
  • Collaborate with engineering staff to address equipment needs.
  • Review relevant documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Replace light bulbs as necessary.
  • Adhere to safe work practices.
  • Inspire and engage colleagues.
  • Understand all assigned duties and perform responsibilities in the absence of management when required.
  • Fulfill additional responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in a scientific field preferred, or a High School Diploma/GED with 3-5 years of relevant experience in a GMP facilities environment within the biotechnology sector.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
  • Willingness to learn new concepts, particularly aseptic techniques and proper cleanroom protocols.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to perform meticulous work.
  • Excellent organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Able to perform basic mathematical calculations, including time conversions and percentages.
  • Availability for overtime and schedule adjustments as required by business needs.
  • Reliable transportation for site travel.
  • Capable of physical tasks including standing, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Familiarity with basic hand tools and multimeters.
  • Ability to work at heights not exceeding 10 feet and in confined spaces.
  • Comfortable working in varying temperatures.
  • Ability to climb ladders.

Compensation Information

The compensation for this role is set at $24.00 per hour. Please note that salaries may vary within this range based on factors such as experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
