Position Overview

A Chaplain Support Specialist plays a crucial role in assisting Army National Guard Chaplains, who are tasked with delivering spiritual care and support to service members.

Key Responsibilities

As a Chaplain Support Specialist, your primary focus will be to aid the Unit Ministry Team in various programs and worship services. Your specific responsibilities will include:
  • Coordinating activities for the Unit Ministry Team
  • Ensuring the physical security of Unit Ministry Team facilities and equipment
  • Safeguarding confidential communications and offerings
  • Organizing religious retreats and memorial ceremonies
  • Supporting the readiness program of the Unit Ministry Team
  • Maintaining religious vestments and items for the Chaplain

Essential Duties
  • Operate communication devices and digital reporting systems
  • Assist in the planning of religious support operations and deployments
  • Maintain records, files, and administrative data for religious activities
  • Provide specialized peer counseling for combat stress issues

Desired Skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Experience with office equipment such as computers and typewriters
  • Ability to effectively plan and organize tasks

In civilian roles, the skills acquired as a Chaplain Support Specialist can be transferred to similar positions assisting religious leaders in various faith communities.

Training and Development

Instead of incurring costs to acquire these skills, you will be compensated while you train. In the Army National Guard, you will gain valuable skills while receiving a regular salary and qualifying for educational assistance.

Training for Chaplain Support Specialists includes 10 weeks of Basic Training to learn fundamental Soldiering skills, followed by seven weeks of Advanced Individual Training focused on the responsibilities of Army Chaplains, including religious history and practices.

Requirements
