Job Overview

Position Summary

The Healthcare Support Specialist plays a vital role in the delivery of patient care by collaborating with the interdisciplinary care team to enhance health and wellness outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitates the execution of care plans through effective coordination with the healthcare team.
  • Engages in collaborative efforts with the care team to ensure that patient outcomes are met.
  • Timely communication of essential patient information to relevant team members.
  • Upholds infection control standards through adherence to established protocols, including proper wound care and hand hygiene practices.
  • Assists patients with daily living activities, accurately measures and records vital statistics, and promptly reports any changes to the assigned nursing staff.

Educational Requirements

  • Completion of the first semester in an accredited nursing program is required.
  • Graduation from a medical assistant or patient care technician program is required.
  • A valid CNA or EMT certification may be accepted in lieu of educational qualifications.

Licensure and Certifications

  • Must possess an active certification to practice in Kansas as either an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) as a substitute for educational qualifications.
  • First Responder - RQI certification is required within 90 days of employment.

Experience Requirements

  • Previous experience in a clinical or office environment is preferred.
