Role Summary

In the capacity of Principal Information Systems Security Engineer, you will be instrumental in supervising cybersecurity protocols, managing accreditation processes, and upholding the highest standards of information security across various applications and systems. Your expertise will be pivotal in driving our security initiatives and ensuring the integrity and safety of our federal clients' systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cybersecurity Leadership: Oversee cybersecurity protocols for applications within an agile software framework.
  • Assessment & Authorization Management: Direct the assessment and authorization (A&A) processes for system accreditation and reaccreditation.
  • Common Control Provider Expertise: Leverage CCP knowledge to secure authorizations for applications on emerging platforms.
  • System Transition Management: Collaborate with stakeholders to facilitate the decommissioning and accreditation of replacement systems with minimal disruption.
  • Technical Exchange Facilitation: Conduct and lead Technical Exchange Meetings (TEMs) and coordinate with key departments to support A&A efforts.
  • Plans of Action and Milestones Oversight: Monitor and manage Plans of Action and Milestones (POAMs) for all systems, propose remediation strategies, and ensure timely execution.
  • Self-Assessment Execution: Perform system self-assessments to support initial, update, and reaccreditation processes.
  • Technical Strategy Development: Engage in technical planning, system integration, verification, validation, and risk assessment activities.
  • Documentation Creation: Develop Basis of Estimate (BOE) documentation, security evaluation test plans, and other essential artifacts.
  • Security Protocol Development: Formulate and document security best practices and RMF accreditation recommendations.
  • Application Security Leadership: Champion application security and secure software development lifecycles, including containerization security in accordance with NIST SP.
  • Security Evaluation: Conduct hands-on security evaluations, analyze findings, and recommend countermeasures.
  • Cloud and Network Advisory: Provide expert guidance on cloud computing services, deployment architecture, and network management tools.
  • Client Engagement: Communicate with clients regarding project-specific activities and manage project-related deliverables.
  • Process Optimization: Facilitate working groups to assess processes and develop innovative business strategies.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Security and Intelligence or a related technical discipline.
  • Certifications: Security+ CE, AWS Advanced Architect, and Splunk Fundamentals 1 and 2.
  • Experience: A minimum of 8 years in information systems security engineering, risk assessment, and vulnerability management.
  • Skills:
    • Comprehensive knowledge of cloud computing services, secure software development lifecycles, and containerization security.
    • Expertise in creating and maintaining security documentation and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
    • Proven ability to lead technical exchange meetings, manage project deliverables, and ensure adherence to security standards and policies.
