Position Overview
This is an entry-level opportunity designed for individuals eager to gain experience and embark on a career in life sciences. Comprehensive training will be provided.
As a Primate Technician I, your primary responsibility will be the daily care of research animals. Your efforts will contribute significantly to the health and welfare of our animals, ultimately impacting the lives of patients globally.
Work Schedule: Rotating shifts
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing food and water to the animals
- Inspecting feeding and watering systems for proper operation
- Cleaning and sanitizing cages and enclosures
- Monitoring animals for overall health and wellness
- Assisting with the relocation of animals as needed
- Documenting animal care data and maintaining accurate records
- Performing other assigned tasks, including restocking supplies
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- Work is conducted in a warm, climate-controlled environment.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) includes regular use of surgical masks, caps, goggles, face shields, scrubs, and boots.
- The combination of the warm environment, physical demands of the job, and PPE may lead to employees feeling hot and sweaty.
- Job duties require frequent stooping, crouching, kneeling, and reaching, as well as standing and walking for extended periods.
- Employees must be capable of regularly lifting, holding, and/or moving up to 50 pounds.
Qualifications:
- We will provide training if you possess the following attributes:
- High School Diploma or GED preferred, but not mandatory
- Experience in animal care is advantageous
- Prior experience in a physically demanding role is beneficial
- Experience in maintaining records and adhering to regulations and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) is a plus
- Strong attention to detail is essential
- A collaborative team player
- Flexible and available to work holidays (on a rotational basis) and overtime as required
Compensation: The starting pay for this position is $17.00 per hour.
