Key Responsibilities

  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE), including managing contracts, estimating fees, project setup, and execution. Familiarity with the Standard Guideline for the Collection and Depiction of Existing Subsurface Utility Data as defined by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) is essential.
  • Strong communication, supervisory, and mentoring skills are required, along with reliability and a keen attention to detail. A valid driver's license is necessary for travel to project sites.
  • The ideal candidate will mentor junior field staff in all aspects of the SUE process and foster a collaborative team environment, which may involve fieldwork and assisting field crews.
  • The candidate will support leadership in client meetings and presentations to drive business growth beyond existing clients.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining accurate personnel, vehicle, and equipment records for the entire SUE group.
  • Training and implementing the use of PointMan, TransparentEarth, and Fulcrum.
  • Managing KCI forms created on the Fulcrum Application and generating reports.
  • Auditing and approving new equipment purchases while maintaining vendor relationships.
  • Attending relevant equipment and technology advancement conferences.
  • Organizing training meetings for field leaders.
  • Conducting monthly meetings to promote unity within the SUE group.
  • Enforcing the implementation of SUE Tech Levels and proper placement of SUE Field Technicians.
  • Conducting evaluations and interviews for promotions and new hires for Tech III and above.
  • Assisting local project managers with project management and field tasks as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency with 3D GPR-Array and concrete GPR.
  • A successful history of developing a national client base.
  • Experience using PointMan or similar software.
  • Familiarity with GPS mapping (Trimble or Emlid).

Required Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of years of professional experience is necessary.
  • Relevant professional certification is preferred.
  • Pre-employment drug screening is a condition of employment, and background and motor vehicle checks may be required based on the position.

Performance Expectations

  • Complete the Annual Individual Training Program.
  • Mentor and train staff effectively.
  • Ensure adequate backup personnel are trained to support your role during absences.
  • Develop and maintain client relationships through regular performance feedback and identifying future project needs.
  • Adhere to all KCI policies and procedures.
  • Ensure projects meet ISO compliance requirements.
  • Manage the work routines of assigned staff and delegate job activities as necessary.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned.
  • Contribute to the development of project-specific safety plans and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Report monthly proposal results to the operations manager.
  • Achieve or exceed budgeted individual utilization targets (typically 75%-80%).
  • Participate in bi-weekly meetings with project teams on all projects/tasks.
  • Provide project performance results and coordinate with other practices and sub-consultants as required.
  • Deliver all projects on time and within budget while fully meeting the project scope.
  • Ensure effective use of equipment and personnel.
  • Prepare and submit monthly project completion reports and progress updates.
  • Propose and negotiate project scope, schedule, and fee estimates.
  • Serve as project or task manager on select projects.
  • Conduct site visits to gather necessary data.
  • Prepare preliminary concept designs for approval.
  • Interpret technical documents essential for project execution.
