About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Auditor and Compliance Specialist to join our team at the Arizona Department of Economic Security. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated professional to contribute to the success of our organization.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for independently planning and conducting performance and compliance audits of DES programs, units, and processes. They will also assess risks and internal controls by identifying areas of non-compliance, evaluating manual and automated processes, and recommending controls to minimize risks posed to DES functions.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and conduct audits in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), the U.S. General Accounting Officer's Government Auditing Standards (Yellow Book), and other federal auditing requirements.
  • Assess compliance with federal regulations and controls by executing audit program steps such as testing operations processes, analyzing records, reports, operating practices, and documentation.
  • Communicate status of work through daily and weekly audit team huddles and participate in audit follow-ups to ensure that corrective actions noted in previous audits have been taken.
  • Maintain the utmost levels of confidentiality and independence while working effectively under stressful conditions or under tight deadlines.
Requirements
  • Master's or Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in Public Administration, Public Policy, Journalism, or closely related field emphasizing analytical skills, research, writing, and organization of data.
  • Two years' experience as an Auditor or equivalent.
  • Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE).
Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary for this position is $83,000 - $118,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, life, and short-term disability insurance plans, participation in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS) and long-term disability plans, 10 paid holidays per year, vacation time accrued at 4.00 hours bi-weekly for the first 3 years, sick time accrued at 3.70 hours bi-weekly, deferred compensation plan, wellness plans, tuition reimbursement, stipend opportunities, infant at work program, rideshare and public transit subsidy, career advancement & employee development opportunities, and flexible schedules to create a work/life balance.
