Senior Account Executive Role

This role presents an opportunity to join one of the fastest-growing firms in the industry and play a significant part in the continued evolution of our highly successful Hospitality Practice. As a Senior Account Executive, you will be the technical insurance expert and strategic leader of your respective Book of Business. You will have extensive interactions with clients and producers, as well as lead your client success team towards excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and drive client strategy to meet their business goals and risk management needs.
  • Develop a deep understanding of clients' business models and risk profiles, including their tolerance for risk retention.
  • Build strong client relationships and provide exceptional, consultative risk management experiences.
  • Identify client exposure to risk and loss, and provide strategies to avoid loss through various means, including insurance risk transfer.
  • Develop detailed service plans aligned with client goals, strategies, and business models.
  • Design marketing plans, including the creation of insurance specifications, timelines, and market selections.
  • Negotiate skillfully in difficult situations, both internally and externally, to gain trust and achieve client objectives.
  • Assist with new business opportunities, including RFPs.
  • Understand, create, and implement insurance concepts and programs.
  • Develop and maintain carrier relationships.
  • Stay proactive in understanding market changes, judicial and legislative outcomes, and new/changed market products.
  • Oversee invoicing and coordinate between clients and accounting to ensure timely collections.
  • Ensure account data supports the integrity of company accounting and tracking systems.
  • Act with responsiveness, urgency, and professionalism in all client interactions.
  • Lead and coordinate service teams, providing technical insurance expertise to team members and clients.
  • Explain complex insurance concepts in an easy and relatable manner.
  • Articulate and deploy Virtus services to prospective and existing clients, including cross-sell opportunities.
  • Assist the team with additional training, questions, escalations, and other tasks as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of previous related Property and Casualty insurance experience.
  • 2+ years of experience independently managing a large, complex Book of Business in a similar Account Executive role.
  • Experience creating complex and large hospitality risk management and insurance programs.
  • Experience evaluating and placing management liability, cyber, professional liability, and other specialty coverages.
  • Active Property & Casualty license required.
  • CPCU and other professional and insurance designations preferred.
  • Familiarity with various Microsoft software applications (Excel), Agency Management Systems, and the ability to learn new software systems.
  • Demonstrated strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Excellent public speaking skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with a commitment to impeccable customer service.
  • Ability to utilize all resources available to find answers for client inquiries and fully resolve any insurance-related issues.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment that is constantly evolving with minimal instruction.

The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision.

15-20% travel, based on client and team needs.

Location

Can be onsite or hybrid, preferably near the Virtus Memphis office location. Relocation package available.
