Position Overview

This remote opportunity is available across various markets in the United States.

The role entails a thorough analysis of risks within the framework of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) and supports senior leadership in effectively managing these risks.

It requires an extensive understanding of risk management methodologies, practices, and regulatory compliance within the banking sector.

The position involves close collaboration with regulatory bodies for ongoing monitoring and examination management, as well as engagement with business units and enterprise-wide support teams to address cross-functional risk-related challenges.

A key responsibility is to foster strong relationships with senior management across the Three Lines of Defense, while also providing support to management and board committees.

Additionally, the role may include overseeing and mentoring team members within the department.

Key Responsibilities


As a member of First Citizens' Model Governance team within the Model Risk Management (MRM) division, you will lead various initiatives concerning model lifecycle management, inventory oversight, and reporting.


Your specific duties will encompass:
- Designing and enhancing MRM processes to boost the efficiency of model lifecycle operations.
- Supporting cross-departmental initiatives.
- Collaborating with colleagues, industry peers, and functional teams to continuously enhance operational and project management skills.
- Managing a wide array of model lifecycle phases, including:
- Identification and risk categorization of models throughout the organization,
- Due diligence and onboarding for vendor models or new products,
- Facilitating communication between MRM leadership and relevant stakeholders to establish applicable monitoring, efficiency metrics, and escalation protocols.
- Overseeing Model Inventory Attestation.
- Managing requests for model changes.
- Addressing validation findings.
- Conducting Quality Assurance Reviews.
- Assisting with regulatory and audit inquiries, including necessary documentation.
- Leading MRM model review working group meetings and creating clear status updates with actionable items.
- Supporting the maintenance of MRM Policies, Standards, Procedures, Templates, and system workflows.
- Implementing changes to model risk management controls, including design and execution.
- Developing and maintaining internal and executive-level dashboards and metrics for project reporting.
- Engaging with stakeholders outside of MRM, including Regulatory Relations, Internal Audit, and the Project Management Office.

Qualifications


A Bachelor's Degree along with 6 years of experience in Enterprise Risk or Operational Risk, coupled with Project Management or Internal/External Consulting experience, OR a High School Diploma or GED with 10 years of relevant experience.


Preferred Education:
An Advanced Degree.


Skills Required:
- In-depth knowledge of risk management techniques, practices, and control frameworks.
- Familiarity with various banking and governmental regulatory requirements and processes.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, senior management, and various committees.
- Understanding of regulatory guidance related to enterprise risk and operational risk.
