Our commitment extends beyond traditional benefits; we foster an environment that promotes professional growth, work-life balance, and inclusivity. We believe in evolving opportunities that align with your personal and professional journey.

The Opportunity

This position is based in our CLT office with a hybrid work schedule that includes both in-office and remote responsibilities.

The Analyst II will be an integral part of Ally's Model Risk Management team, reporting to the Model Validation Director and focusing on the validation of Qualified Analytical Tools (QATs). These tools are essential for various critical functions within Ally, including regulatory reporting, business forecasting, and risk management, and can be developed using platforms such as Excel, Access, Power BI, SAS, SQL, R, Python, and Snowflake. The Analyst II will ensure the delivery of precise, timely, and pertinent QAT validation reports, while also identifying and addressing issues to uphold best practices across business lines.

The Work Itself

The following outlines the core responsibilities of this role, though additional tasks may arise:

  • Conduct independent reviews of QATs to evaluate their suitability for intended purposes, including assessing assumptions, data integrity, and overall functionality.
  • Document all review processes thoroughly through formal reports and maintain relevant artifacts.
  • Prepare high-quality QAT validation reports that are clear, accurate, and concise.
  • Identify and record findings within QATs, evaluating the associated remediation efforts.
  • Respond to ad hoc QAT analysis requests from Model Governance and other internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with various teams to enhance Model Risk Management analysis, reporting, and monitoring.
  • Advocate for efficiency improvements through technology-driven automation and well-structured processes.
  • Contribute to risk identification and quantification analysis.
  • Continuously expand expertise in analytical methods and tools through self-directed learning.

The Skills You Bring

A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Statistics, Mathematics, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field is required.

A minimum of 1 year of experience (2-4 years preferred) in banking or financial services, particularly in areas such as forecasting, stress testing, liquidity management, or risk management.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Excel (including VBA) and Power BI (including DAX & Power Query Editor) or similar data visualization tools.

Experience with programming languages, particularly SQL, Python, or R.

Ability to work with large datasets and produce formal documentation and reports with a focus on accuracy.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, along with strong organizational and interpersonal abilities.

Experience in Model Risk Management validations and various testing methodologies is preferred.

Progress towards or completion of relevant certifications (e.g., CPA, CFA, FRM) is advantageous.
