Overview:

Join the Lubbock County team as a Lead Transportation Project Engineer, where you will play a pivotal role in advancing the Transportation Roadway Improvement initiatives. Collaborate closely with the Public Works Director to ensure the successful implementation of strategic transportation projects. Utilize your expertise as a Licensed Professional Engineer to provide high-level guidance within the Public Works department, managing budgets and ensuring adherence to regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and prioritize departmental projects in compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Support the administration of the Transportation Roadway Improvement program.
  • Facilitate the review and processing of development plans to ensure regulatory alignment.
  • Assist in the design and cost estimation of transportation improvements.
  • Engage in budget planning and oversee special program management.
  • Manage personnel matters, including recruitment, training, and professional development.
  • Interact with the public and development community on regulatory issues.
  • Handle inquiries related to land development activities.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of projects and departmental functions.
  • Perform additional duties as required to support departmental operations.

Qualifications:

To be considered for this role, candidates should possess a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline, a valid driver's license, and hold a State of Texas Licensed Professional Engineer designation. A minimum of 7-10 years of project management or supervisory experience is essential. Proficiency in spreadsheet and word processing applications, along with strong communication and interpersonal skills, is required.
