Position Summary:

As the VCQ Manager, you will oversee the food safety and quality assurance initiatives aimed at ensuring the continuous production of products that meet established standards. You will be responsible for creating and executing food safety and quality training programs, while leading the VCQ initiatives to comply with regulatory requirements and meet customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Achieve the goals and objectives of the quality department, focusing on continuous improvement in food safety and quality.
  • Implement Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) protocols.
  • Interpret and enforce FDA and ODA regulations to ensure compliance with HACCP, SSOP, and COOL Act standards.
  • Establish and uphold GFSI/BRC/SQF standards to meet audit requirements.
  • Engage with Regulatory Agencies and third-party auditors; manage scheduled audits.
  • Develop and deliver relevant training programs.
  • Stay updated on all regulatory requirements and legal changes.
  • Maintain expertise in microbiological testing and laboratory practices.
  • Oversee mock recall and recall processes; coordinate procedures and training.
  • Support and guide customer complaint investigations.
  • Conduct internal and external audits to ensure compliance with all standards.
  • Identify, investigate, and report critical quality defects in production processes and products.
  • Determine the sources of quality variances and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure vendors meet food safety, quality, and regulatory expectations.
  • Assist facilities and VCQ Managers, providing on-site support for critical issues and necessary training.
  • Prepare and submit required reports.
  • Participate in management and strategic planning meetings aimed at operational excellence.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Associate's degree from an accredited institution in food science, marine/fishery science, biology, microbiology, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred:

  • At least three years of quality assurance experience in the food or seafood industry.
