Position Summary:

As the VCQ Manager, you will oversee and manage the food safety and quality assurance initiatives aimed at ensuring the consistent production of products that meet established standards. You will be responsible for creating and executing training programs related to food safety and quality, while leading the VCQ initiatives to comply with regulatory standards and meet customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Achieve departmental goals and objectives while pursuing continuous improvement in food safety and quality.
  • Implement and manage the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) program.
  • Interpret and enforce FDA and ODA regulations to ensure compliance with HACCP, SSOP, and COOL Act standards.
  • Establish and uphold GFSI/BRC/SQF standards to meet audit requirements.
  • Engage with regulatory agencies and third-party auditors; oversee scheduled audits.
  • Develop and deliver relevant training programs.
  • Stay updated on all regulatory requirements and changes in laws.
  • Maintain expertise in microbiological testing and laboratory environments.
  • Oversee mock recall procedures and coordinate training for recall processes.
  • Support and guide investigations into customer complaints.
  • Conduct internal and external audits to ensure compliance with all standards.
  • Identify and analyze critical quality defects in production processes and products.
  • Determine the root causes of quality variances and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure vendor compliance with food safety, quality, and regulatory expectations.
  • Assist facilities and VCQ Managers with on-site support for critical issues and provide necessary training.
  • Prepare and submit required reports.
  • Participate in management and strategic planning meetings focused on operational excellence.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Associate's degree from an accredited institution in food science, marine/fishery science, biology, microbiology, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred:

  • At least three years of experience in quality assurance within the food or seafood industry.
