Position Overview:

As a key member of our healthcare team, the Sonography Education Coordinator is responsible for delivering Sonographer services within a clinical environment while overseeing the training and supervision of Sonography students. This role is vital in fostering a collaborative atmosphere that aligns with the mission and values of Kaiser Permanente.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Conducting diagnostic imaging procedures, utilizing the necessary skills and knowledge tailored to the patient demographic, including routine, urgent, portable, and surgical examinations in compliance with departmental protocols.
  • Facilitating effective communication between Radiologists and students.
  • Assisting with patient transport and care.
  • Managing inventory, restocking supplies, and maintaining cleanliness. Engaging in quality assurance activities and other assigned responsibilities.
  • Participating in on-call or standby schedules as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Experience
  • A minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in the field, with the experience timeframe not exceeding three (3) years from the application date.
Education
  • Completion of a CAAHEP Accredited Ultrasonographer Program at the time of employment or two (2) years of prior Ultrasound experience.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Oregon Sonography Technologist License.
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Certification - Abdomen from the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers.
  • Basic Life Support certification within one month of hire.
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Certification - Ob-Gyn from the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers.
Additional Requirements:
  • Demonstrated expertise in clinical instruction and student evaluation through relevant experience or educational coursework.
  • Proficient in the daily use of diagnostic imaging equipment and healthcare information systems.
  • Exemplary customer service skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities with all staff members.
  • In-depth knowledge of Ultrasound technology and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in Vascular Ultrasonography is advantageous.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and prioritization skills; attention to detail; problem-solving capabilities; sound judgment; technical proficiency; initiative; and effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work independently and confidently conduct examinations.
