Central Sterile Processing Manager

Job Overview:
In a role that operates under indirect supervision, oversee and manage the daily functions of the Central Sterile Processing Department, including the OR Instrument Processing area and Materials Services Department. The primary goal is to ensure both the quality and quantity of departmental output, thereby enhancing customer satisfaction while adhering to all Infection Control and Joint Commission standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct hiring, performance evaluations, and employee counseling, providing essential input for discharge decisions. Organize staff work schedules and facilitate orientation and training programs. Maintain comprehensive records of staff development.
Formulate and enforce departmental policies and procedures, ensuring regular updates to existing protocols. Lead in-service training and educational initiatives for staff members. Hold regular staff meetings to foster communication and collaboration.
Ensure effective communication with clients, guaranteeing the timely delivery of sterile supplies and equipment.
Implement proper inventory management practices by initiating necessary procedures and routinely reviewing reports in accordance with established policies.
Supervise and assess the sterilization assurance program for compliance, maintaining a robust quality assurance framework. Manage supply orders and monitor staffing levels to remain within budgetary constraints. Coordinate the rental and timely return of equipment to patient care areas. Provide consulting support on processing matters to the regional team. Undertake additional duties as required.Essential Qualifications:
Experience
A minimum of three (3) years in Processing/Central Supply.
At least one (1) year of leadership experience in Processing.
Education
High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) is mandatory.
License, Certification, Registration

Additional Skills:
Comprehensive understanding of infection control protocols, ETO Safety, Gluteraldehyde safety, and instrument/equipment processing.
A strong foundation in surgical instrumentation.
Proficient knowledge of materials management:
ordering, distribution, and inventory control.
Awareness of current sterilization technologies and their appropriate applications.
Exceptional communication abilities.
Capability to operate EtO, steam autoclave, Sterrad, and washer/sterilizers.
Basic knowledge of budget management and financial oversight.
Strong organizational skills and coordination within the customer service department.
Competence in computer and CRT operations.
Preferred Qualifications:
At least five (5) years of experience in Central Sterile Processing.
A minimum of three (3) years in a supervisory capacity within Central Sterile Processing.
Certification in Central Service Supervision or CS Management.
Thorough understanding of materials supply, distribution, and ordering processes.
Basic supervisory skills related to budgeting and staffing.
Familiarity with medical terminology.
Self-motivated and proactive in approach.
