Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Staff Development, RN to join our team at Covenant Living. This is a unique opportunity to lead our staff development and education programs, ensuring that our employees have the skills and knowledge needed to provide exceptional care to our residents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement comprehensive staff development and education programs for all skilled nursing employees.
  • Plan and lead in-service education programs, including content and curriculum development.
  • Ensure training compliance to assure quality resident care and regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate with department managers to plan, present, and evaluate in-service programs.
  • Lead other types of training, including technology-based training and infection control training.
  • Measure training and in-service effectiveness and make continuous improvements.
  • Support department managers in staff supervision, training, performance appraisals, and discipline.
  • Assist in hiring, discipline, and termination decisions.
  • Conduct general orientation and onboarding for employees.
  • Establish contact with staff and build effective relationships.
  • Support and interpret policies and procedures to staff.
  • Participate in community events and networking to stay informed about key trends and changes.
  • Represent the facility as appropriate in the community.
  • Ensure regulatory training requirements are implemented and completed.
  • Communicate results of annual state surveys to residents, families, and staff and oversee resolution of deficiencies.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing or related field.
  • Active RN license in good standing.
  • 2 years' experience in geriatric nursing.
  • 1 year experience in planning, implementing, and evaluating educational programs in nursing.
  • Previous leadership or managerial experience is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in nursing or related field.
  • Completion of state-required training or certifications, such as Infection Control certification.
