We are seeking a Vice President of MEP for our Boston, MA office.

Recently, Global Infrastructure Solutions Inc. (GISI), the parent company of The LiRo Group, consolidated a portion of its highly skilled workforce in the Northeast to form a larger, more efficient, and cost-effective team dedicated to client service. Hill-LiRo comprises a workforce of 1100 professionals across multiple locations.
Key Responsibilities
The MEP Leader will be essential in managing various projects, overseeing the Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) components, ensuring their successful execution while maintaining quality standards, safety protocols, and project timelines.
Project Planning and Coordination:
- Engage with stakeholders, architects, engineers, and clients to ascertain project requirements and objectives.
- Formulate MEP project plans, timelines, and budgets to guarantee successful implementation.
- Collaborate with other engineering disciplines and project teams to ensure the smooth integration of MEP systems with the overall building design.
Design Review and Approval:
- Evaluate, prepare, and review MEP design proposals, drawings, and specifications to ensure adherence to local building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Offer technical expertise and guidance to the design team for optimal MEP system selection and execution.
- Authorize final design documents and ensure all necessary permits are secured prior to construction.
Construction Oversight:
- Supervise and manage MEP personnel during construction to ensure compliance with approved plans, specifications, and safety guidelines.
- Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress, identify potential issues, and implement corrective measures promptly.
- Address any MEP-related conflicts or discrepancies that may arise during construction.
Engineering Design and Analysis:
- Provide technical expertise in MEP engineering disciplines (e.g., mechanical, electrical, plumbing) to support the design team's efforts.
- Review and approve engineering design proposals, calculations, and drawings, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulations.
- Conduct complex engineering analyses and simulations to validate design concepts and optimize project outcomes.
Quality Control and Assurance:
- Establish and enforce quality control measures for MEP design to ensure high-quality outputs.
- Conduct audits to verify that MEP designs meet the required standards.
Budget and Cost Management:
- Monitor and manage MEP project budgets to ensure cost-effective solutions without compromising quality.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend value engineering options where appropriate.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead and mentor a team of MEP engineers and designers, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
- Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and support professional development initiatives for team members.
Client Communication:
- Maintain regular communication with clients to provide project updates, address concerns, and ensure satisfaction.
- Participate in client meetings and presentations to discuss MEP-related progress and milestones.
Client Interaction and Business Development:
- Build strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs and ensuring satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
- Engage in client meetings and presentations, discussing project progress, addressing concerns, and identifying opportunities for additional services.
- Collaborate with business development teams to identify potential clients, prepare proposals, and secure new engineering projects.
Compliance and Regulatory Adherence:
- Stay updated with relevant engineering codes, regulations, and industry best practices, ensuring project compliance with all applicable requirements.
- Liaise with regulatory authorities and obtain necessary permits and approvals for engineering projects.
Innovation and Continuous Improvement:
- Encourage and promote innovation within the engineering team, exploring new technologies and approaches to enhance project efficiency and outcomes.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement best practices across the organization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license required.
- Advanced certifications a plus (e.g., LEED, CEM, PMP).
- Proven experience (typically 15+ years) in managing MEP projects in the construction industry, focusing on commercial or institutional buildings.
- Strong knowledge of local building codes, regulations, and industry standards related to MEP systems.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse project teams and clients.
- Proficiency in using MEP design software and project management tools.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrated experience in successfully managing complex engineering projects and teams.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Business acumen and the ability to contribute to business development efforts.
