Job Description

Job Summary

Kohler is seeking a highly skilled Automation Systems Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our automation team, you will be responsible for designing, testing, and validating automated equipment to deploy in our manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop electrical and control systems, including sensors, servo axes, PLCs, HMIs, and fieldbus systems.
  • Develop and implement electrical and pneumatic designs for manufacturing equipment, including control cabinets and field electrical wiring.
  • Program PLCs according to operations engineering specifications, using structured formats for sustainability.
  • Collaborate with mechanical engineers to simulate robot programs, verify payload, reach, and cycle time, and calibrate robots and vision systems.
  • Develop and implement technical specifications for electrical components, including cables and connections, and review samples from suppliers.
  • Manage electrical documents throughout the concept review, final review, purchasing, fabrication, and deployment phases.
  • Provide power consumption, system cost, estimated electrical build and programming time to operations engineering for capital projects review and approval.
  • Release schematic and BOM for purchasing and fabrication, and recommend spare parts lists during deployment.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in electrical engineering or manufacturing engineering.
  • Experience and knowledge of NEC code standards, electrical wiring, and PLC diagnostics, programming, and robotics applications.
  • Bachelor's degree from an engineering program is a plus.
  • Experience with AutoCAD Mechanical and/or Inventor Pro is a plus.
