The Heavy Equipment Technician will possess expertise in routine maintenance, repairs, and diagnostics on a variety of vehicles and machinery. A solid understanding of diesel and gasoline engines, hydraulic systems, electrical components, and pumps is essential. Familiarity with drilling rigs and associated equipment is advantageous. Additionally, adaptability and the ability to manage multiple tasks while prioritizing effectively are crucial, as this role involves handling diverse requests daily. A positive demeanor and a readiness to assist colleagues are also vital. The capability to collaborate within a team setting without direct supervision is necessary for achieving success.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Evaluate all maintenance request forms, provide recommendations, gather pricing, and consult with the Shop Manager when necessary to finalize repairs.
  • Conduct repairs and maintenance on all drilling rigs, vehicles, trailers, and additional equipment.
  • Complete documentation for all maintenance and repairs, ensuring accurate record-keeping.
  • Perform routine inspections every 90 days and annually on all drilling rigs, vehicles, trailers, and other machinery, adhering to DOT regulations.
  • Regularly assess and diagnose the physical condition of equipment to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Oversee and coordinate field testing for all completed work requests, communicating results to the initial requestor and Shop Supervisor or Operations Manager.
  • Maintain accurate records of vehicle downtime, repairs, and resolutions, ensuring proper documentation.
  • Order necessary materials, parts, and supplies.
  • Ensure that all rigs and equipment are maintained in optimal working condition.
  • Document any exceptions and forward them to the Administrative Assistant for computer entry.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools effectively.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Adhere to all safety practices, policies, procedures, and governmental regulations while performing duties.
  • Complete additional tasks and projects as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
  • CDL A certification is a plus.
  • Ability to lift up to 60 pounds consistently throughout the day.
  • Understanding of hydraulic systems, diesel engines, welding, and fabrication.
  • Familiarity with DOT regulations is beneficial.
  • Willingness to work overtime and various shifts as needed.
  • Proficient in the use of power and hand tools, as well as diagnostic equipment.
  • Ability to read and comprehend manufacturer repair manuals.
  • Basic computer skills are required.
