HIV Outreach Coordinator

Position Overview:
The Outreach Specialist I plays a vital role in providing essential support and services to individuals affected by HIV/AIDS. This position is focused on re-engaging individuals who have previously disengaged from care, ensuring they receive the necessary counseling and testing services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver counseling, testing, and referral services to individuals impacted by HIV/AIDS.
- Engage with individuals who have been out of care to facilitate their return to health services.
- Provide pre/post counseling and testing services, along with STI screenings.
- Connect individuals to treatment adherence resources.
- Assist in organizing and participating in community outreach events.
- Identify and promote HIV testing and condom distribution locations.
- Stay informed about local service providers and resources.
- Participate in team meetings and community activities.
- Manage outreach materials and complete necessary documentation.
- Support patients in accessing services and attending their appointments.
- Develop new outreach and testing locations while engaging in various outreach initiatives.
Additional Duties:
- Follow office protocols and maintain a professional appearance.
- Complete required annual training and educational programs.
- Ensure respectful treatment of clients while maintaining confidentiality.
- Communicate effectively and foster positive relationships with colleagues.
- Represent the organization in a positive manner and adhere to ethical standards.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Comprehensive knowledge of HIV treatment and care practices.
- Ability to support organizational goals and adapt to changes.
- Strong interpersonal skills to build rapport with clients.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
Experience and Education:
- Prior experience in HIV counseling and testing is essential.
- Experience in educating clients about accessing healthcare services.
- Certification in accordance with health program requirements.
- Experience in outreach and community-based environments.
- Strong organizational and communication skills are necessary.
Language Proficiency:
- Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking is required.
Work Environment:
- Work is conducted in a moderately noisy environment.
- Tasks may vary based on reasonable requests from supervisors.
Physical Requirements:
- Job may involve sitting, standing, walking, carrying, and lifting.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment and manage phone communications.
- Travel may be necessary during work hours.
