Position Overview:
As a Deputy Sheriff, you will have the chance to proactively serve and safeguard your community, aligning with the Sheriff's Vision of comprehensive enforcement against crime and compassionate care for victims and witnesses. Deputies may be assigned to various specialty units, including Investigations, School Resource Officers, Narcotics Detectives, Psychiatric Emergency Response, and Homeless Outreach Teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Respond to diverse service calls throughout El Dorado County, enforcing both criminal and civil laws.
- Investigate juvenile and adult criminal activities as the designated detective.
- Oversee crime scene management and investigations, including witness interviews, evidence collection, and preservation.
- Participate in special projects such as drug enforcement and emergency services.
- Provide Coroner/Public Administrator services.
Minimum Qualifications:
Deputy Sheriff I:
- Completion of a California POST certified Basic Law Enforcement Academy within one year of appointment.
- Peace Officer eligibility through California State Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) within six months of appointment.
- Maintain firearms qualification.
- Possess a valid Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record.
- Must be at least 21 years of age and possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Possess a valid Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record.
- Hold a Basic Certificate issued by the California State Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST).
- Maintain Peace Officer eligibility and certification through POST.
- Possess and maintain firearms qualification.
