RESPONSIBILITIES

Weatherford is seeking a Senior Engineer for our Houston facility.

The Senior Mechanical Engineer, at an advanced level, must possess demonstrated expertise in executing fundamental engineering tasks, including: material strength analysis, stress evaluation, torque and tension calculations, material selection, cost estimation, and tolerance assessments. The role involves both independent work and collaboration within a team comprising product line engineers and managers to identify and facilitate product enhancements, standardization, certification, and more. Support management and undertake various other duties and activities as assigned within the physical constraints of the role.

OPERATIONS
  • Exhibit knowledge of high-speed practices and standards for electronic circuit boards and assemblies.
  • Contribute to the analysis, design, testing, integration, and documentation of printed circuit assemblies and higher-level system interfaces.
  • Collaborate with product engineers and managers to identify and facilitate product improvements, standardization, certification, and address obsolescence and supply shortages.
  • Assist field engineers with equipment failures and anomalies through internal remote support queries.
COMMUNICATION
  • Maintain effective communication with all key stakeholders, both internal and, where appropriate, external.
  • In a supervisory/management role, clearly communicate expectations, roles, and responsibilities to team members.
FINANCIAL

QUALIFICATION

Experience & Education

REQUIRED
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or Mechanical Engineering is mandatory.
  • Over 8 years of substantial experience in mechanical engineering/project management is required.
PREFERRED
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor/Creo/Solidworks, FEA/CFD is advantageous.
  • More than 8 years of experience in the oil field is preferred.
  • Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam (FE) is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

REQUIRED
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and multitasking capabilities.
  • Advanced and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
  • Experience in developing experimental test programs.
  • Proficient in failure analysis.
  • Strong understanding of theoretical calculations.
  • Willingness to focus on minimum viable products to align with program objectives.
  • Ability to conduct comprehensive analyses of critical components to eliminate potential failure modes.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
PREFERRED
  • Familiarity with rotary steerable systems is a plus.
  • Experience with FEA/CFD is advantageous.
  • Working knowledge of downhole oilfield tools is beneficial.
  • Experience in generating detailed manufacturing drawings is preferred.
  • Methodical, proactive, and naturally inquisitive mindset.
  • Strong communication skills are essential.
