Position Overview

Shift Details: This role is for the 2nd Shift QA Position.

Job Summary

The Quality Assurance Inspector I is responsible for conducting comprehensive inspections to ensure that all materials and components meet the established quality standards of The Crosby Group. This includes evaluating raw materials, in-process parts, coatings, heat-treated items, and final assemblies. The inspector will also verify weld quality and adhere to company inspection protocols. Utilizing precision measuring tools, the inspector will generate detailed inspection reports and maintain accurate records.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Conduct various mechanical inspections on incoming materials and components from suppliers, including initial, random, and final inspections to ensure compliance with specifications.
  2. Perform visual and dimensional assessments of materials, forgings, machined parts, and final assemblies to guarantee quality output.
  3. Authorize acceptance of materials and oversee production runs as necessary.
  4. Collaborate with the QA Manager or Supervisor regarding rejected items and determine the need for rework or further investigation.
  5. Utilize precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, scales, and calipers to perform inspections.
  6. Compile inspection reports and maintain necessary documentation.
  7. Execute magnetic particle inspections on castings and weldments as part of the receiving inspection process.
  8. Carry out dye penetrant inspections on machined components and forgings.
  9. Inspect inventory at the receiving dock to ensure quality standards are met.
  10. Monitor in-process inspections on the paint line and galvanizing operations.
  11. Conduct ultrasonic inspections as required.
  12. Perform inspections within the machine shop environment.
  13. Complete additional related tasks as assigned.
Qualifications

  • 2-5 years of experience in magnetic particle and ultrasonic inspection within a machine shop setting.
  • Proficient in operating Jib cranes for handling large components safely.
  • Certification in magnetic particle inspection to level II.
  • Certification in ultrasonic inspection to level II.
  • Ability to operate magnetic and ultrasonic testing equipment, as well as overhead hoists.
Education Requirements:

A High School Diploma or equivalent is required; vocational training is preferred.

Working Conditions:

The position involves daily exposure to a manufacturing environment, which may include variable conditions such as noise and dust. The role requires extensive standing and walking, and employees may encounter fumes and vapors that are controlled in accordance with OSHA standards. Work may be performed both indoors and outdoors, in various conditions.
