Position Overview

Role Summary

The Quality Assurance Inspector I is responsible for conducting comprehensive inspections across various production stages to ensure compliance with established quality standards. This role involves assessing raw materials, in-process components, and finished products to uphold the integrity of the manufacturing process and meet customer expectations. The inspector will utilize precision measuring tools and adhere to company protocols while documenting inspection findings.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Conducts mechanical inspections on incoming materials, components, and subassemblies, ensuring adherence to specified tolerances.
  2. Performs visual and dimensional evaluations of materials, including forgings, machined parts, and coatings, to verify quality.
  3. Certifies items for acceptance or production, collaborating with management on any identified discrepancies.
  4. Utilizes precision measuring instruments such as micrometers and calipers to gather accurate data.
  5. Generates detailed inspection reports and maintains accurate records of all inspections performed.
  6. Executes magnetic particle inspections on castings and weldments as part of the receiving inspection process.
  7. Implements dye penetrant inspections on machined components and forgings.
  8. Conducts inspections of inventory at the receiving dock to ensure quality standards are met.
  9. Performs in-process inspections on production lines, including paint and galvanizing operations.
  10. Utilizes ultrasonic inspection techniques as required.
  11. Engages in machine shop inspections to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  12. Undertakes additional related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

  • 2-5 years of experience in magnetic particle and ultrasonic inspection within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient in operating Jib cranes for safe handling of large components.
  • Certification in magnetic particle inspection at Level II.
  • Certification in ultrasonic inspection at Level II.
  • Experience operating magnetic and ultrasonic testing equipment, as well as overhead hoists.
Educational Background:

A high school diploma or equivalent is required, with vocational training preferred.

Work Environment:

This position involves daily exposure to manufacturing conditions, which may vary based on assigned tasks. The role requires the ability to work in environments that may be noisy, dusty, or confined, with potential exposure to fumes and vapors, all managed in accordance with OSHA standards. The position necessitates extensive standing and walking throughout the workday.
