Clinical HIV Consultant

The University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) is seeking a highly skilled Clinical HIV Consultant to provide expert education and guidance to healthcare professionals nationwide. The ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of HIV management, viral hepatitis, and blood-borne pathogens, as well as exceptional project management and interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide expert consultation on HIV management, including medical management of persons living with HIV, antiretroviral selection and treatment strategies, and prevention of HIV transmission.
- Offer guidance on viral hepatitis, including evaluation and management of persons living with hepatitis B and/or C.
- Manage occupational and non-occupational exposures to blood-borne pathogens, including HIV, hepatitis B, and C.
- Develop and implement PrEP care strategies, including HIV testing, antiretroviral monitoring, and drug interactions.
- Answer incoming calls and ensure timely delivery of expert HIV consultation.
- Perform administrative and operational duties, including journal reviews, educational and quality improvement conferences, and protocol development.
- Doctor of Pharmacy degree (Pharm D) or equivalent training.
- Intensive knowledge and expertise of pharmaceutical theory in a specialty area.
- Advanced understanding of how to compound, prepare, mix, and manufacture sophisticated or rare medicines.
- Highly developed project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities and lead projects from inception to completion.
- Sharp analytical and critical-thinking skills, as well as scientific aptitude.
- Interpersonal skills to maintain relationships with healthcare professionals, callers, and administrative staff.
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills.
- Minimum 5 years prior experience analyzing clinical studies and including new developments and approaches into clinical practice.
- Post graduate year 1 (PGY1) in Pharmacy Practice or equivalent experience.
- Post graduate year 2 (PGY2) in area of specialty practice or equivalent experience in specialty area required.
- Minimum 3 years of experience with HCV treatment and monitoring.
- Prior experience managing complex blood-borne pathogen exposures.
- Board Certification in Pharmacotherapy and/or Board Certification in Specialty Practice (if available).
- AAHIVP: AAHIVM-recognized HIV Pharmacist.
