Position Overview

The HIV Clinical Consultant is responsible for delivering specialized education and expert advice to healthcare professionals across the nation. This role requires proficiency in various critical areas, including:
  • Comprehensive knowledge of HIV management, encompassing testing, primary care, antiretroviral therapy, resistance testing, and the prevention and treatment of opportunistic infections.
  • Expertise in viral hepatitis, focusing on the evaluation and management of patients with hepatitis B and/or C.
  • Guidance on managing both occupational and non-occupational exposures to blood-borne pathogens.
  • PrEP care: This includes advising on HIV testing protocols, eligibility for PrEP, monitoring for toxicity, and conducting screenings for STIs and other blood-borne pathogens.
The HIV Clinical Consultant will handle incoming inquiries, ensuring prompt and accurate delivery of HIV consultation services, while also performing necessary administrative tasks such as conducting literature reviews, participating in educational sessions, and developing protocols.
Compensation Information

It is important to note that compensation ranges for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement can vary significantly, but job offers typically align within 80% to 120% of the established midpoint, taking into account the candidate's experience and current salary levels of similar roles.

Essential Qualifications
  • Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D) degree or equivalent qualifications.
  • Extensive knowledge of pharmaceutical theory and current research developments in the field.
  • Advanced skills in compounding and preparing specialized medications.
  • Strong project management capabilities to handle multiple priorities and deliver exceptional customer service.
  • Exceptional analytical and critical-thinking abilities to propose innovative solutions.
  • Interpersonal skills to foster relationships with healthcare professionals and address sensitive patient situations.
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills, with a track record of accurate documentation.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in clinical study analysis and implementation of new clinical practices.
  • Demonstrated competence in clinical practice, health information systems, and leadership.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Completion of a Post Graduate Year 1 (PGY1) in Pharmacy Practice or equivalent experience.
  • Completion of a Post Graduate Year 2 (PGY2) in a specialized area or equivalent experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience in HCV treatment and monitoring.
  • Experience managing complex blood-borne pathogen exposures.
  • Board Certification in Pharmacotherapy and/or Specialty Practice, if applicable.
  • Certification as an AAHIVP: AAHIVM-recognized HIV Pharmacist.
