Position Summary

We are in search of a highly skilled Investment Accounting Manager to play a pivotal role within the Investment Accounting division. This position entails overseeing the daily operations of the team, requiring an active engagement in accounting practices and the financial closing procedures. The Investment Accounting Manager will uphold the general accounting standards, internal controls, and financial reporting for the department. Additionally, this role includes mentoring and providing practical training to accounting staff while driving process enhancements.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Oversee daily accounting operations and manage the month-end closing activities.
  2. Review and maintain the Investment Accounting processes for various investment categories, including single loans, loan portfolios, preferred equity, and operational real estate.
  3. Enhance and streamline the monthly closing processes, conduct analytical reviews of operating results, and ensure adherence to compliance standards.
  4. Develop and assess accretion calculations, monthly accruals, and cash flow projections.
  5. Collaborate with operational teams to adjust for changes in hold/disposition assumptions and necessary accretion modifications.
  6. Analyze and comprehend deal documentation, including partnership and joint venture agreements.
  7. Monitor consolidation and elimination entries for accuracy and completeness.
  8. Prepare schedules and compile data for SEC reporting, assisting with financial statement tie-outs.
  9. Oversee contributions, distributions, and loan draws.
  10. Guide and train the Investment Accounting team, including the creation and upkeep of the accounting procedures manual.
  11. Support the implementation of new accounting systems.
  12. Manage the preparation of the annual budget, track operating performance, and adjust forecasts as needed; provide management with ad hoc reports.
  13. Coordinate with both internal and external auditors.
Qualifications:
  1. 6-8 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a public accounting environment.
  2. CPA designation is preferred.
  3. Experience in the real estate, REIT, or financial services sectors is highly desirable, particularly in investment management or private equity.
  4. Intermediate knowledge of financial modeling and concepts, including yields, DCF, cap rates, and IRRs.
  5. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  6. Exhibit a positive leadership approach and the ability to perform effectively under pressure.
  7. Possess strong analytical, operational, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  8. Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
Work Environment:

This role is situated in a standard office setting, with no unusual hazards. Overtime may be necessary.
