The Senior Project Engineer position is located in our operational hub and reports directly to the General Manager.

In this role, you will oversee engineering resources throughout the region, collaborating with both internal teams and external specialized engineering firms. Your responsibilities will include engineering design, project management, and construction oversight for various operations including crushed stone, sand/gravel, concrete, and asphalt. You will assist in project development, design, cost estimation, and the execution of significant upgrades and expansions. Additionally, you will provide engineering support to all sites, facilitating training and sharing best practices.

This position offers a unique opportunity to engage with diverse quarry operations and play a pivotal role in promoting best practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols and provide guidance during all project activities and site visits.
  • Develop comprehensive plans, estimates, and timelines for capital projects.
  • Apply engineering design best practices and identify opportunities for their implementation in both existing and new equipment.
  • Lead the coordination of engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning of assigned capital projects, focusing on timely and budget-compliant delivery.
  • Prepare and present regular progress and cost reports throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Manage external engineering, fabrication, and construction contractors effectively.
  • Communicate project progress to stakeholders, including the provision of meeting minutes and monthly updates.
  • Ensure that end-user expectations are met with a focus on cost-effectiveness, functionality, reliability, and maintenance ease.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across operations.
  • Provide engineering and construction services aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and process optimization.
  • Deliver training and mentorship on capital project management, engineering design, and equipment operation.
  • Utilize excellent communication skills to ensure clarity of project goals and effective management across various disciplines.
Essential Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Mining Engineering is preferred; other relevant disciplines will be considered.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in engineering and construction, ideally within the Aggregate Industry.
  • In-depth knowledge and practical experience with processing plants for crushed stone and sand/gravel, as well as asphalt plants and related equipment.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, AggFlow, and Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently in a dynamic, multi-tasking environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in project engineering within the aggregates sector.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license with the ability to obtain licenses in other jurisdictions as needed.
