Position Overview

AECOM's Water Business Line is on the lookout for a dynamic and skilled Lead Project Engineer specializing in Wastewater. This role is available for immediate engagement at AECOM's offices, with the option for a hybrid work arrangement, allowing for in-office presence 2-3 days a week. Our established and expanding water/wastewater division in North Carolina collaborates with major utilities in the region and supports AECOM's national and global water initiatives, executing transformative projects across the globe.

The ideal candidate will possess substantial experience in leading the evaluation and design of water and wastewater treatment facilities, as well as collection and conveyance systems. This role will provide the opportunity to guide an engineering team through a diverse array of projects, focusing on project leadership, mentoring technical staff, fostering new business opportunities, and nurturing client relationships.

AECOM boasts a comprehensive portfolio of municipal clients and utility projects throughout North and South Carolina. Our proficient technical teams are well-equipped to deliver complex projects effectively. The successful candidate will join a mature business environment, with an immediate opportunity to manage multiple clients and team members.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience or a combination of education and experience.
  • At least 8 years of experience in municipal water/wastewater infrastructure design, assessment, and rehabilitation, covering treatment, conveyance, and pumping systems.
  • 3+ years of experience in Project Management.
  • Professional Engineer license in North Carolina or the ability to obtain reciprocity within six months.
  • U.S. citizenship is required due to the nature of the work.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • 12 years of experience in municipal water/wastewater infrastructure design, assessment, and rehabilitation.
  • Proven experience in leading complex municipal water/wastewater projects, preferably within North Carolina.
  • Experience in managing staff and leading multidisciplinary project design teams.
  • Familiarity with coordination involving regulatory agencies.
  • Experience in presenting at professional conferences and leading technical workshops.
