Position Overview

FULL TIME OPPORTUNITIES AVAILABLE

Join our dedicated team at Compost Connection as a Yard Waste Collection Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for the efficient collection of organic waste materials, including paper lawn waste bags and bundles, utilizing rear load packer trucks. Some locations may require the use of cans for disposal, while toters will be managed with a toter tipper.

Applicants must possess the physical capability to lift weights ranging from 50 to 70 pounds consistently throughout the day and be prepared to work in diverse weather conditions, including rain, snow, extreme heat, and cold. This position is highly physical and requires agility to quickly get on and off the vehicle's step, collect items, and resume the route. During intervals between collection points, you may be required to ride in the truck.

Team Collaboration

As a Yard Waste Collection Specialist, you will work closely with the driver to ensure the effective collection, transportation, and disposal of residential yard waste and some recyclable materials. Timeliness is crucial; all team members must clock in promptly each morning and will remain on route until all tasks are completed, typically working Monday through Friday.

Attendance and Punctuality

Consistent attendance is essential for this role. Specialists are expected to arrive on time daily, as reliability is key to our operations. Personal transportation is necessary for commuting to and from work.

Compensation and Reviews

This position offers full-time hours, with pay distributed weekly via direct deposit. Overtime is available during peak seasons, with additional compensation for hours worked beyond the standard 40-hour workweek. Performance reviews will be conducted at various intervals, with potential raises based on attendance and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Efficiently transfer yard waste from the curb to the rear load garbage truck.
  • Adhere to safety protocols while performing duties; personal electronic devices are prohibited during work.
  • Maintain cleanliness in collection areas by picking up any debris that may have fallen.
  • Follow the driver's instructions and assist as needed during the route.
  • Wear required safety gear and maintain a professional appearance at all times.
  • Report any violations observed during collection to the driver.
  • Arrive on time and ready to work each day.

Physical Demands:

This role involves heavy lifting and physically demanding tasks, including but not limited to: lifting, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, and repetitive bending. The ability to lift and carry loads of 50 to 60 pounds repeatedly throughout the shift is essential.

Work Environment:

Expect to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, with potential exposure to cold, heat, rain, and hazardous materials. It is important to be prepared with adequate hydration and food for the duration of your shift.
