Position Overview:
The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a dedicated Research Associate to join the esteemed Beirne B. Carter Immunology Center at the University of Virginia's School of Medicine. This role is designed for a motivated individual eager to contribute to groundbreaking research in cancer immunology.

Key Responsibilities:
- Engage in full-time research activities under the guidance of senior scholars.
- Collaborate on innovative projects utilizing advanced pre-clinical models of cancer.
- Participate in the development of T cell-based immunotherapies aimed at overcoming immune suppression in solid tumors.
- Conduct genetic engineering, adoptive transfer studies, and gene expression analysis.
- Analyze biospecimens from human subjects, including those with and without ovarian cancer.
- Contribute to the preparation of study reports, research papers, and grant applications.
- Attend and actively participate in laboratory meetings and seminars.
- Mentor and collaborate with graduate students, technicians, and fellows.

Qualifications:
- A Ph.D. or M.D. terminal degree is required at the time of hire.
- Demonstrated expertise in immunology, molecular biology, or cancer biology is preferred.
- Experience in T cell biology, genetic engineering, and human translational immunology is advantageous.
- Strong written and oral communication skills are essential.
- Proven ability in grant writing and a collaborative mindset are highly valued.

Work Environment:
This position primarily involves sedentary work with extensive use of desktop computers, alongside occasional travel between buildings for meetings and programs. The role is contingent upon funding and satisfactory performance.
