We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Senior Director, Learning and Development to join our team. As a key member of our commercial organization, you will be responsible for developing and delivering learning journeys to support leaders at all levels across the commercial organization.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and Maintain Business Partnerships: Establish and maintain strong business partnerships with commercial leaders at every level to understand business goals and strategies, and identify opportunities for learning and development programs or support.
- Evaluate Training Programs: Evaluate training programs, curriculum, tools, platforms, and corresponding training materials for multiple layers of management to ensure alignment with business goals and strategies.
- Champion Learning Journeys: Champion the development, delivery, and management of learning journeys across multiple roles/levels.
- Conduct Feedback Discussions: Proactively conduct ongoing feedback discussions with leaders and key stakeholders across the organization to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and relevancy of all learning and development program content.
- Establish Training and Coaching: Establish structure and provide training and coaching for Provider Engagement Specialist (inside sales) team to support revenue growth in close collaboration with Field Sales team.
- Collaborate with Cross-Functional Partners: Collaborate and communicate closely with cross-functional partners (e.g., HR, Compliance, Commercial Operations).
- Manage Vendors and Budget: Manage the identification and selection of vendors, as well as subsequent relationships and projects related to learning and development programs, and forecast future needs, manage budget, and achieve financial targets.
- Attend Training Classes: Attend appropriate training classes to receive certification or maintain an advanced level of knowledge.
- Education: Bachelor's degree (science or business preferred) or equivalent combination of relevant education and applicable job experience may be considered; MBA or advanced scientific degree preferred.
- Experience: A minimum of 10 years progressively responsible experience in clinical laboratory, pharmaceutical, and/or medical sales leadership, with a minimum of 5 years in a training role. A focus on autoimmunity/immunology preferred.
- Leadership Experience: A minimum of 3 years leading an inside sales team.
- Learning Management System: Prior experience establishing a learning management system, leading projects, and engaging learning and development vendors.
- Leadership and Teaching Ability: Demonstrated leadership and teaching/facilitation ability.
- Adult Learning Principles: Proven ability in creating effective sales training materials and applying adult learning principles.
- Product Launch Experience: Experience in product launch (Sales, Managed Markets, and/or Sales Training).
- Project Management: Proven ability to create, develop, and lead projects.
- Strategic Thinking: Demonstrated ability to think strategically.
- Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with multiple departments as required to meet learning and development goals.
- Technology Utilization: Experience effectively utilizing technology to engage audiences.
- Evaluation Skills: Ability to complete verbal and written evaluations of others.
- Organization and Self-Motivation: Organization, initiative, and self-motivation.
- Professionalism and Integrity: Professionalism, integrity, and the ability to comply with strict policy, work in a highly regulated environment, and maintain confidential information and data.
- Negotiation and Influence: Skilled at negotiating with business partners or management and influencing senior-level leaders regarding matters of significance to the organization.
- Clear Vision: Proficient at creating and communicating a clear vision among team members and stakeholders.
- Resource Alignment: Effectively aligns resources and activities to achieve functional area and/or organizational goals.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
Mathematical SkillsAbility to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning AbilityVery high skills: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
