Job Summary

We are seeking an exceptional candidate for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Human Development and Family Studies at the University of California, Davis. The successful candidate will have a strong background in quantitative methods and a research focus on family science, with a preferred emphasis on the examination of family policy, family systems, and family processes. The appointee will be expected to establish a competitively funded research program, teach undergraduate and graduate courses, and contribute to departmental and university service.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

* Establishing a research program that addresses critical or emerging issues in family science

* Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in Human Development and Family Studies, including core courses and topical courses

* Mentoring undergraduate and graduate students, including advising and mentoring M.S. and Ph.D. students

* Contributing to departmental and university service, including participation in outreach programs and performance of university service

Requirements

The successful candidate will have:

* A Ph.D. or equivalent in a field of Human Development, Psychology, Sociology, or similar

* Strong quantitative and/or methodological skills

* Evidence of leadership and organizational skills relevant to the development of a successful research, teaching, and outreach program in family science

* Demonstrated ability or potential to obtain extramural support for research activities

* Interest, understanding, and commitment to contributing to diversity, equity, and inclusion

Preferred Qualifications

The successful candidate will have:

* Strong communication skills and collegiality consistent with effective departmental, campus, and professional citizenship

* Interest, understanding, and commitment to the objectives of a land-grant university and the Agricultural Experiment Station, including mission-oriented research and a substantive outreach engagement programming
