Job Overview

We are seeking a highly qualified and innovative scholar to join our faculty as a tenure-track assistant professor of Asian American Studies. The successful candidate will have a strong research and teaching profile in the area of war and critical militarisms, with a focus on settler colonialism and empire. The position is part of our ongoing efforts to build a diverse and inclusive community of scholars who are committed to excellence in teaching and research.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate courses on critical militarisms, the transpacific, indigenous studies, state-sanctioned anti-Asian violence, Filipinx studies, SWANA studies, and/or community engaged social justice projects. They will also be expected to develop and maintain a strong research profile, with a focus on publishing innovative and impactful research in their field. Additionally, the candidate will be expected to contribute to departmental and university service, including participating in departmental and university committees, and engaging in outreach and community service activities.

Requirements

To be considered for this position, applicants must hold a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in a relevant field. They must also have a strong research and teaching profile, with a focus on war and critical militarisms. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and research, as well as a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. They will also be expected to have a strong publication profile, with a focus on publishing innovative and impactful research in their field.
