Job Title: Assistant Professor of Wildlife Ecology

We are seeking a highly qualified and motivated Assistant Professor of Wildlife Ecology to join our faculty at the University of California, Davis. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in wildlife ecology, conducting research in the field of wildlife ecology, and contributing to the department's outreach and service activities.

Responsibilities:
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in wildlife ecology, including courses on wildlife ecology, conservation biology, and research methods.
  • Conduct research in the field of wildlife ecology, including studies on wildlife population dynamics, habitat conservation, and human-wildlife conflict.
  • Contribute to the department's outreach and service activities, including extension education, public outreach, and community engagement.
  • Develop and maintain a research program that addresses critical or emerging issues in wildlife ecology.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the department and across the university to advance the field of wildlife ecology.
Requirements:
  • Ph.D. in a field of ecology, conservation, environmental science, or quantitative ecology, including but not limited to ecology and management of wildlife or habitat conservation.
  • Postdoctoral experience preferred.
  • Evidence of leadership and organizational skills relevant to the development of a successful research, teaching, and outreach program in the discipline of wildlife ecology.
  • Evidence of scholarship during graduate and post-graduate activities.
  • Demonstrated ability or potential to obtain extramural support for research activities.
  • Interest, understanding, and commitment to contributing to diversity; demonstrated ability to contribute to diversity and inclusion of groups that are underrepresented in the academy through extension education, research, and/or service.
