Job Description

Gecko Hospitality is seeking an experienced Benefits Manager to oversee the administration of employee benefits across all company operations in Madison, NJ. The ideal candidate will develop, implement, and manage employee benefit programs to ensure competitive, cost-effective, and compliant offerings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer Employee Benefits Programs: Manage company-wide benefit programs, including retirement plans, medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, disability, and other employee benefits.
  • Plan Design & Cost Control: Oversee the administration of self-insured medical benefits, working with brokers and third-party administrators to design benefit plans, manage cost-sharing strategies, and implement wellness programs to control expenses.
  • Open Enrollment: Lead and coordinate the annual open enrollment process, evaluating and comparing existing benefit offerings with industry standards by analyzing plan designs, conducting surveys, and using relevant data.
  • Leave of Absence (LOA) Management: Administer and manage LOA programs, ensuring compliance with Department of Labor regulations, Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and other paid leave requirements.
  • Wellness Programs: Analyze medical claims and Employee Assistance Plan (EAP) usage to design and recommend wellness initiatives aimed at improving employee well-being and reducing overall healthcare costs.
  • Workers' Compensation: Assist with the filing and management of workers' compensation claims, ensuring compliance with reporting and claim status updates.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in employee benefits management within the restaurant and/or hospitality industry.
  • Strong knowledge of benefits administration, including retirement plans, medical, dental, vision, and leave management.
  • Experience managing relationships with insurance brokers, carriers, and third-party administrators.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory compliance related to LOA, FMLA, workers' compensation, and other labor laws.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to implement cost-control strategies.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across departments, including HR, payroll, and finance.
