General Overview

This role involves delivering information, assistance, and security protocols at the terminal, ground transportation zones, and parking facilities. Responsibilities include processing transactions using automated systems for customer convenience while directing more complex inquiries to supervisory staff. Additionally, this position plays a vital role in upholding a clean, inviting, secure, and professional atmosphere.

Pay Grade 9: $20.52 Hourly

Work Schedule: Sunday-Wednesday, 6pm to 12am.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as a primary representative at Burlington International Airport, engaging with travelers to assist with luggage, wheelchairs, and inquiries regarding directions and parking, while ensuring safety and security standards are met.
  • Handle transactions and collect fees courteously using automated systems for departing vehicles, assisting customers with self-service equipment.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of airport facilities, terminal layouts, emergency exits, and traffic routes.
  • Stay informed about airport and TSA security protocols.
  • Monitor airline arrival and departure schedules at Burlington International Airport.
  • Provide information on ground transportation options available at the airport.
  • Regularly patrol areas outside the airport terminal and parking garage, serving as an ambassador for the airport.
  • Collaborate with Airport Operations and local law enforcement on security and customer service issues.
  • Enhance public relations by promptly addressing complaints and inquiries from travelers.
  • Enforce airport regulations and city ordinances related to transportation services, traffic management, and vehicle parking.
  • Follow established procedures to prevent security breaches, including monitoring designated exit lanes.
  • Regularly collect luggage carts and wheelchairs throughout the day.
  • Assist in monitoring parking garage occupancy and direct vehicles to alternative parking when necessary.
  • Execute Ground Transportation duties, including permit distribution and payment processing.
  • Utilize remote monitoring systems to assist parking garage patrons upon entry and exit.

Qualifications/Basic Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of two years' experience in public service or a related field; airport or security experience preferred.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and work in various weather conditions.
  • Capability to follow written and verbal instructions effectively.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency in processing monetary transactions and basic math.
  • Availability to work weekends, nights, and holidays as needed.
  • Ability to interact courteously and professionally with the public, staff, and contractors.
  • Maintain professionalism in challenging situations.
  • Punctuality and regular attendance are essential for job performance.
  • Understanding and compliance with city standards, safety regulations, and personnel policies.
  • Ability to obtain a Burlington International Airport Secured Area ID badge, including a background check and security assessment.
  • Familiarity with Windows-based environments and basic software applications.
  • Proficient use of communication equipment, including two-way radios.
