Job Summary

The State of Vermont is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Airport Firefighter to join our team. As a key member of our emergency response team, you will be responsible for providing 24-hour fire-emergency services at Burlington International Airport.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide a full range of emergency services, including aircraft rescue and firefighting, structural rescue and firefighting, emergency medical services, and mutual aid.
  • Perform fire prevention, training, maintenance of equipment, extinguishers, and installed systems.
  • Work under the supervision of a shift supervisor and collaborate with other emergency responders as needed.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent and two (2) years or more as a firefighter with an organized fire department.
  • Completion of Department of Defense Fire Protection Apprentice Course X3ABR3E731.
  • Current State of Vermont emergency medical services license or National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians certification.
  • Certified to Department of Defense (DoD) or International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) or Pro Board at the following levels: Fire Fighter II, Hazardous Materials Operations.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to obtain a government vehicle operator's permit within four (4) months of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certification to Department of Defense (DoD) or International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) or Pro Board at the following levels: Airport Fire Fighter, Driver/Operator - ARFF, Driver/Operator - Pumper, and Driver/Operator - Mobile Water Supply.
