THE ROLE

Situated within Sotheby's flagship galleries, The Emporium serves as an extension of the company's expanding online marketplace, providing clients and discerning shoppers with 24/7 access to an extraordinary selection of over 5,000 authenticated luxury items, including exquisite jewelry, fine art, collectible sneakers, watches, designer handbags, decorative objects, and furniture. By blending the convenience of e-commerce with the thrill of in-person retail, The Emporium further establishes Sotheby's as the premier destination for luxury and fine art.

The Luxury Retail Sales Consultant will report to the Emporium Store Manager and must possess a strong passion for client service and expertise in luxury goods. This role is vital in consistently delivering an exceptional level of service to clients, enhancing client conversion and retention, driving business revenue, and fostering brand awareness and loyalty. The consultant will collaborate with a diverse team of sales associates and various departments within Sotheby's, including auction, client service, operations, and marketplace.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Act as a Brand Ambassador for Sotheby's, optimizing the client experience by delivering prompt, professional, warm, and courteous service to exceed client expectations.
  • Lead efforts to recruit new clients, convert walk-in clients, and nurture existing client relationships.
  • Enhance brand awareness through outreach to new and existing clients using client books or Sotheby's generated CRM reports via phone, email, and in-store appointments.
  • Maintain an up-to-date understanding of Sotheby's auction, sale, and exhibition calendars, special events, and available inventory on the BuyNow platform.
  • Collaborate with Specialists, Account Managers, and Business Getters to initiate, facilitate, and execute sales through The Emporium.
  • Achieve and surpass individual Sales Goals and Key Performance Indicators (KPI) while maintaining a strong results-driven attitude.
  • Support operational needs, including inventory management, visual merchandising, and technological advancements.
  • Participate in auction, exhibition, and private sale-related sales and client outreach to drive business for Sotheby's as needed.

IDEAL EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES

  • Self-motivated with a customer service-oriented mindset and creative problem-solving abilities.
  • Minimum of 2 years of sales experience in a luxury retail environment.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Interest in current trends and developments in the art and fashion industries.
  • Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Physical capability to stand for extended periods, move and handle merchandise, and perform related functions.
  • Participation in ad hoc projects as necessary.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
