Position Overview

Sign-On Bonus: $2,000 (External Candidates Only)
Job Title: Healthcare Support Specialist - 40 hours per week - Flexible 8-hour shifts between 8:00 AM - 5:30 PM, Monday - Friday.

Qualifications: Experience as a Medical Assistant, Certified Nursing Assistant, or Emergency Medical Technician is essential.
Role Summary: This position provides both clinical and administrative assistance to ensure efficient daily operations within the designated medical practice. Responsibilities include preparing the patient and examination area adequately.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Welcome patients and escort them from the waiting area to the clinical space. Conduct necessary intake procedures and document vital information such as vital signs, current medications, and allergies, ensuring the electronic medical record is accurate.
2. Record and update patient data in the medical record, including demographic information and medical history as provided by the patient.
3. Handle clerical and administrative tasks related to patient care. Organize patient charts for assigned healthcare providers and complete necessary paperwork, including disability forms and scanning relevant patient documents.
4. Stay updated with the EMR Orders Reconciliation process as assigned.
5. Ensure the examination area is sanitized after each patient visit and adequately stocked. Conduct environmental checks on a regular basis as assigned.
6. Prepare patients for their scheduled appointments to maintain efficient patient flow, including assisting with gowns and ensuring clinical paperwork and supplies are ready for the provider.
7. Perform in-office tests as directed by the healthcare provider and coordinate any necessary external testing services.
8. Collect, prepare, and process specimens as instructed by the provider, ensuring proper logging of results in the patient record.
9. Manage inventory and maintain the cleanliness and functionality of medical equipment and supplies. Complete necessary logs.
10. Mentor and educate new team members regarding procedures and techniques.
11. Conduct audits as assigned by the supervisor.
12. Demonstrate and uphold practice-based competencies for in-office surgical procedures, including setup, patient preparation with sterile techniques, recovery, and room turnover under RN supervision.
13. Interact with patients and colleagues following service excellence standards.
14. Adhere to all compliance responsibilities associated with the role.
15. Perform additional duties as required.

Additional Information:



Required Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED. Recent graduate of a Medical Assistant program, Nursing Assistant training, or EMT certification, or possess three years of relevant experience in a medical office. Basic understanding of medical terminology and proficiency in obtaining accurate patient vital signs.

Preferred Qualifications:
CPR certification is advantageous. Bilingual candidates are preferred. Experience with Practice Management Systems, medical office environments, and proficiency in MS Excel are desirable.
