Become a Family Support Specialist

In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating and delivering direct care while managing a diverse caseload of clients.

Essential Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's or Master's Degree in a relevant field is required, in accordance with state guidelines.
  • In North Carolina, a Bachelor's degree in social work or a related discipline is preferred, while a Master's degree is beneficial but not compulsory.
  • In Indiana, the educational and experiential requirements differ based on classifications from 'Caseworker in Training' to 'Caseworker B'.
  • A valid driver's license and certifications in First Aid/CPR are mandatory.
  • Applicants must meet the legal working age requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Engage in client referral processes and placement strategies as instructed.
  • Assist in the creation and upkeep of Individualized Service Plans.
  • Conduct regular meetings with clients and their treatment families to provide support and guidance.
  • Serve as an advocate and intermediary for clients in collaboration with other service providers.
  • Complete necessary documentation, statistical reporting, and participate in training sessions.
  • Support crisis intervention and conflict resolution within treatment family environments.
  • Provide training to treatment families and supervise the care of medically fragile clients when applicable.
  • Utilize Resiliency Theory with foster parents to strengthen protective factors.
