Position Overview

The Technology Applications Group (A-3) is in search of an Electrical Engineer dedicated to addressing critical national security issues.

A-3 encompasses a diverse array of engineering and scientific expertise focused on providing practical solutions for clients within the Department of Defense, Department of Energy, and the Intelligence Community.

Core areas of expertise within A-3 include radio frequency design and analysis, tailored electronic solutions, mechanical design and assessment, power systems, and electromagnetics.

Role Responsibilities
A-3 currently has an opening for an Electrical Engineer who is eager to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team of engineers, scientists, technicians, and technologists. This team is committed to transforming innovative concepts and designs into deployable products that fulfill Global Security mission objectives.

The primary responsibilities of the successful candidate will include applying fundamental engineering principles to assist in the design, construction, prototyping, testing, and analysis of electrical systems. The candidate will operate both independently and collaboratively, often under tight operational timelines.

Key Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:
The ideal candidate must demonstrate the ability to collaborate and utilize technical skills in a multidisciplinary operational setting.

Research & Collaboration:
Proven capability to conduct fundamental engineering research, both independently and as part of a team. A strong willingness to acquire new skills and achieve expertise in emerging areas of interest is essential.

Technical Expertise:
Fundamental knowledge in one or more of the following areas:

  • Electronic systems, including analog or digital circuit design, schematic capture, and layout for printed circuit board (PCB) development, along with experience in circuit simulation tools.
  • Embedded systems design, integration, and firmware development.
  • Signal processing, covering time and frequency domain analysis, filter design, and sampling strategy development.
  • RF and microwave systems design and analysis, including transmitter and receiver development, antenna selection, and RF PCB development.
  • Electromagnetics theory and its applications.
  • Experience in measurements across fields such as mechanical, electromagnetic, radiographic, and/or optical.
  • Demonstrated success in designing, constructing, and troubleshooting hardware systems.
  • Strong organizational capabilities.

Education/Experience:
This position necessitates a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution, coupled with two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
In addition to the minimum requirements, candidates with enhanced qualifications in any of the following areas will be viewed favorably:

  • Beginner to intermediate operational experience in topics such as bare metal programming for microcontrollers, software-defined radio, and antenna design.
  • Applied electromagnetics, particularly in pulsed power and high-power magnetics.
  • Electromagnetics modeling and simulation using tools like COMSOL or REMCOM.
  • Experience with field-programmable gate array (FPGA) devices and hardware description languages (Verilog, VHDL, etc.).
  • Integration of electromechanical systems.
  • Reverse engineering of electronic systems and/or firmware.
  • Software engineering experience.
  • Familiarity with experimental data collection and analysis, including the use of software such as LabVIEW and MATLAB.
  • Proficiency in signal processing, data acquisition technologies, and statistical detection theory.
  • Programming experience in Python, MATLAB, C, or C++.
  • Knowledge of applied technology development and testing.
  • Advanced degree in engineering or a related STEM field.
  • Active Q/SCI clearance.

Work Environment:
This position is based onsite. All work locations are determined by management.
