Geotechnical Area Engineer

Your Role and Contributions:
  • Provide geotechnical engineering expertise across various project types, including transportation, infrastructure, commercial developments, and environmental projects.
  • Conduct independent evaluations utilizing established geotechnical engineering methodologies, making necessary adjustments as required.
  • Interpret and make decisions based on laboratory and field test results, project conditions, and inspections.
  • Prepare and review geotechnical reports in accordance with project specifications.
  • Delegate tasks to team members as needed.
  • Leverage both local and remote teams to achieve project objectives and foster employee development.
  • Develop scopes, budgets, and timelines for project tasks.
  • Collaborate with the Principal Consultant and/or Chief Engineer on project recommendations.
  • Build and maintain client relationships while identifying new project opportunities.
  • Participate in client meetings and communicate effectively with project teams.
  • Mentor and train junior technical staff.
  • Conduct on-site inspections as necessary.
  • Adhere to safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.
Qualifications for Success:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited engineering program and a Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering are required.
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience is essential.
  • Possession of a Texas P.E. License or the ability to obtain one in your state of residence.
  • Proficiency in geotechnical analysis software such as GeoStudio, APILE, LPILE, GROUP, SHAFT, Plaxis, Midas, SLIDE, Settle3D, and MSEW.
  • Ability to achieve Principal Consultant status based on experience.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, along with effective interpersonal abilities.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and overtime as needed.
