The Kauffman School is in search of an Educational Support Specialist who will contribute to creating an optimal learning environment. This role involves collaborating with teachers to tailor instruction for diverse learning styles, providing individualized or small group support, and coordinating with external service providers to deliver comprehensive, high-quality services.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work with individual or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills introduced by the general education or special education teacher.
- Administer, score, and record achievement and diagnostic tests as recommended by the teacher.
- Assist the teacher in developing strategies to reinforce material based on a thorough understanding of each student's needs, interests, and abilities.
- Operate and maintain classroom equipment used for instructional purposes.
- Help students master instructional materials assigned by the teacher.
- Distribute and collect educational materials for instruction.
- Guide independent study, enrichment, and remedial work assigned by the teacher.
- Supervise students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, and field trips.
- Assist with large group activities such as drills and read-aloud sessions.
- Read to students, listen to them read, and engage in oral communication.
- Check notebooks, correct papers, and supervise testing and make-up work as assigned.
- Serve as a resource for substitute teachers in the absence of the regular special education teacher.
- May be assigned specific duties such as study hall or cafeteria supervision.

- Ensure safe and efficient student transitions between locations.
- Monitor students' daily schedules and care plans to maintain a positive learning environment.

- Experience in a high-performing charter, district, or independent school setting.
- Commitment to addressing the achievement gap in education.
- State certification or ability to obtain it within a specified timeframe.
- Minimum of 60 college credit hours or successful completion of the Paraprofessional Assessment.
- At least three years of experience working with low-income or historically underachieving students, demonstrating exemplary results.
- Ability to meet all state and federal licensing requirements.
- Personal qualities of maturity, humility, self-reflection, and a strong work ethic.
