Research Associate 1

The University of Miami/UHealth Department of The Miami Project is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Research Associate 1 to join our team. As a key member of our research team, you will provide laboratory-based support for our research activities, tackling complex projects and experiments with expertise and precision.
Key Responsibilities- Data Collection and Analysis: Collect, analyze, and present research data to inform our research initiatives.
- Database Management: Monitor and maintain relevant research databases to ensure accurate data entries and efficient research operations.
- Research Protocol Interpretation: Understand and interpret research protocols and procedures to ensure compliance and accuracy.
- Publication Support: Participate in the publication of significant research results, including authorship of scientific monographs.
- Animal Surgery and Evaluation: Perform rat and mouse traumatic brain injury surgeries, and evaluate cognitive and sensory behavior using standard tests.
- Biochemical Analysis: Conduct biochemical analysis of brains from rats and mice, including dissections, western blotting, ELISAs, and qPCR.
- Histological Processing: Process brains from rats and mice, including perfusion, dissection, sectioning, staining, and image analysis.
- Mouse Colony Management: Assist with mouse colony management, including data entry, analysis, and reporting of findings.
- Report Preparation: Prepare written published reports and presentations at University of Miami events and national science meetings.
- Technological Innovation: Advance technological innovations in the laboratory through education, training, and research.
- Laboratory Maintenance: Perform routine laboratory maintenance, including inventory management, ordering supplies, and organizing the laboratory.
- Team Collaboration: Attend weekly laboratory meetings to plan work schedules and collaborate with team members.
- Proposal Support: Support the preparation of extramural proposals to gain funding support.
- Compliance and Safety: Adhere to University and unit-level policies and procedures, and safeguard University assets.
- Student Supervision: Supervise undergraduate students in the laboratory, providing guidance and mentorship.
- Master's Degree: Master's degree in a relevant field is required.
- Experience: No experience is required, but one year of experience is preferred.
- Attention to Detail: Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
- Analytical and Organizational Skills: Ability to analyze, organize, and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
- Confidentiality: Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
- Flexibility: Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.
