The Office of Research Administration (ORA) presents an exceptional opportunity for a Grant Administrator.

CORE JOB SUMMARY
The ORA Grant Administrator operates autonomously to evaluate finalized sponsored proposal submissions and negotiate agreements in compliance with the requirements of sponsoring entities and the University of Miami.

This role entails delivering institutional-level sponsored research administration services to a diverse portfolio of academic departments and research units across all University campuses, including liaising with external funding agencies.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Review, assess, negotiate, and endorse completed proposals and awards to ensure adherence to appropriate processes, forms, and submission protocols.
2. Communicate with external funding agencies regarding proposal and grant-related inquiries.
3. Provide guidance to faculty and staff on sponsored research administration matters, interpreting a wide array of sponsor policies, governmental regulations, and terms and conditions.
4. Collaborate with various University stakeholders, including Principal Investigators and study teams, Compliance, IRB (Human Subject Research Office), Risk Management, sponsors, and other pertinent offices to ensure that sponsored research initiatives are managed efficiently and effectively in accordance with UM policies and procedures, as well as applicable agency guidelines, laws, and regulations.


CORE QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.

Certification and Licensing:
Certified Clinical Research Associate (CRA) preferred.
Experience:
A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in research administration, encompassing proposal development review and submission, as well as award review and setup. Experience in sponsored programs administration within a university context is preferred. Any suitable combination of relevant education and/or experience may be considered.

Knowledge, Skills, and Attitudes:
Knowledge of University and Federal agency requirements, including NIH, DOD/DARPA, NSF, FAA, and DOE, along with OMB Circulars, Export Control Regulations, and Federal Acquisition Regulations.
Familiarity with Sponsor and University systems (e.g., Huron Research suite, eRA Commons, DMAS) is preferred.
Ability to work independently while exercising sound judgment and professionalism.
Commitment to staying informed on relevant professional information through participation in professional development opportunities and training.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, coupled with outstanding customer service abilities.
Professional experience and judgment to effectively serve faculty and sponsors while safeguarding, representing, and advancing the University's best interests.
Ability to perform well under deadline pressures without compromising accuracy, customer service, collegiality, or ethics.
Understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and procedures.
Knowledge of budget control methods, policies, and procedures.
Ability to prepare financial and accounting records.
Capability to analyze, consolidate, and interpret accounting data.
Ability to compile, organize, interpret, and communicate accounting data and results succinctly.
Capacity to manage a budget and operate within its constraints.
Strong analytical skills.
